Thank you so very much for your continuing interest in VHC, now in our 26th year.
To share some correct information about our organization: Relocation last year (2017) was not due to lack of support or the fires, rather it was due to the wonderful and needed construction of the new Columbarium for our Los Angeles National Cemetery, now well under way with a planned opening in May of 2019. This will allow us to provide more than 90,000 Niches for cremated remains of our veterans. Currently, all funerals are diverted to Riverside National Cemetery as the 88,800 spaces at our LA National Cemetery are filled.
In 2017, we were able to serve thousands of our active duty, veterans and families of deployed in El Monte and will again this year Saturday, December 8, in Whittier Narrows Parks, South El Monte, from 10 AM to 3 PM. Then, on Sunday, December 9, we are adding a second event at March Air Force Base, Riverside, serving other families of those soon to be deployed and those families of currently deployed, from 10 AM to 3 PM.
Please join us at either or both, volunteer to help us serve them and donate to our www.VHCevent.org site. Although we are a totally volunteer (and a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization making your donation tax deductible) and much of our food and supplies are donated, we always incur costs and your support and that of your network, family and friends is very much appreciated and needed.
Our plan is to return to the VA West Los Angeles Campus Grounds in 2019 and beyond. Our service to our active duty, veterans and families of deployed continues in effective and efficient manner. We ask for your support.
Please look for any of our Board of Directors and VHC Volunteers at either or both events: John Powers, our President; John Lockett, our Vice President; Phil Banos, our Secretary; Andrew Crane, our Treasurer, and Ara Donakan, our Event Transportation
Coordinator. Producer of both this year’s events is Joe Leal, Founder, Veterans Hunters Project, with support from the United States Army Reserve and LA County Board of Supervisors Hilda Solis, 1st District.
Again, thank you for your interest and support; I look forward to meeting you and thanking you personally. You and our many volunteers make what we do possible and on behalf of all of us – Thank You So Very Much.
